One enters the property through a gated driveway and past the guest and staff quarters. After passing the quarters,
the driveway
ends in a circular drive that leads to the wrought iron and glass entrance. A bronze statue, serving as
a fountain, is located behind
a bank of colorful flowers in the middle of the circle. The fountains and statuary on the
property complement the Mediterranean style architecture of both the guesthouse and the main building. The
red barrel-tiled roof of both houses carries through the Italianate theme. Villa Crono was totally renovated and
fully air conditioned in the mid-90's.
Typical of these Mediterranean style mansions that were built in the days before air conditioning, the entrance leads
directly into the Grand Salon. The house was built in a "U" shape with the center section consisting of only one
great room, the entrance-the Grand Salon area. Building in this manner, the Main Living area is open on two sides
allowing for maximum air circulation. The interior of the main house is ideal for entertaining and Family functions.
The flow from the Grand Salon to the Formal Dining room and informal den permits seating for approximately 130 guests.
The main living area alone, would accommodate 50, or 60 by moving the piano.
Perhaps the perfect spot for a Family gathering would be the pool where cocktails could be served from the dining cabana
and the accompanying 2,000 square foot lawn could be tented to seat 160 or more. The view from the lawn and pool area
is breathtaking in the evenings as one sees the waterway and the towering hotels on the horizon. Deep water dockage with
direct ocean access and no fixed bridges compliment this beautiful estate.
There have been several major motion pictures filmed at Villa Crono including Bad Boys One and Two, Big City Blues and
Miami Vice. Several television series and Novelas have also been filmed at the estate, along with multiple photo shoots
and 20 commercials. Many High Profile Celebrities, Politicians and even Baroness Thatcher have been Guests of the estate. |
